94 toyota 3.0 questions
« on: Jul 27, 2008, 10:37:18 PM »
My 94 xtra cab has no codes, runs smooth good mpg, very dependable truck I maintain it well 215000 on it though, it for some reason just lacks power, going up hills or in some off road situations. It has stock gears right now with 235/75/15's, 5spd 4x4.  MAF problem, Knock sensor, o2 sensor, tps? Obviously it has a lot of miles, but it felt like someone turned off a switch or something on it. Considering  a rebuild , but that wont do too much good if it has something else. Any info/help is greatly appreciated, or where to turn. I have had good luck all up untill now a very dependable motor.  My compression is 130-140 psiThanks again. Mr. 3.0 :smack:

What does a dry compression test show for numbers? How about a wet compression test?

I did a full tune up on mine a while back and it made a huge difference. oh and mine has 230k plus some.  my spark plugs were really bad too.  It made pulling hills much easier.

I wouldn't be surprised if you've lost cyl #6, as in its not firing. That spark plug is exposed to a lot of heat, and is difficult to get out.  If you've taken it to a shop for a tuneup in the past, there is a possibility that they didn't even change that plug.  (I know of a few shops that do that)  Do a full tuneup, change all the plugs, and check back.  If that plug has been in there for a long time, its prolly been cooked.
