I ask this question with almost no knowledge of hydraulics, and having never driven a hyedraulic assist steering rig, so maybe I am way out there. Anyway, here is my thought. I always hear the hydro steering is more sluggish than normal steering, which could be a liabilty on the road. My idea is to have some kind of in line hydraulic cut-off, or bypass valve. So, when you decide to go offroad you open the bypass to allow the ram to work its magic. When you get back onto the pavement you close it off, reverting back to the regular steering.
I dunno, what do y'all think?
