My Commute

This is a park I pass on my commute home. This time of year the Great Egrets are nesting in the trees. The make a bunch of noise (and quite a mess if you park in the wrong place).
I took the dogs there last week to get some pictures of the birds in the trees... to my surprise I found a couple other cool birds.

It's hard to get pictures of the birds in the nests as they are pretty hidden up high in the branches but this one tree is thick with nests, you can see a lot of the birds stands on the branches.



A Great Egret fishing




As you can see this is in quite the foo-foo neighborhood. It's a really nice like with gorgeous houses on it.





But much to my surprise I heard this odd sort of screechy hissing noise... looked up to find two baby (or so I was told, they looked pretty big to me) Barred Owls.

Not in that lake, not that they might not show up occasionally but it's too populated. They do a lot of water skiing and tubing on the lake. Gators don't like activity.
I can go to another lake and get lots of gator pics if you want.

GATOR PICS!!!

i thought owls were creatures of the night? :headscratch:

when i was in florida once, they had all the house on that block situated around a pond type of thing and it had gators in it, with numerous 3 foot ant hills around the outside.
