Torsion bars on 92 xtra cab
« on: Apr 14, 2008, 05:37:27 PM »
I need a little more height for my new tires and I was wondering if I could crank them up a little more for clearance? And my driver side is 1 inch higher than the passenger side.

:yesnod: you can.  Don't crank them all the way though, it'll make the ride really rough, and put them under a lot of stress.

Do they both need to be cranked the same way?

Technically yes but if your truck already sits up higher on one side then I'd say it's already a bit off.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

Only crank them as far as you need to clear your tires. Use a tape measure and measure from the same point on each side to get them even. I would recommend soaking the bolts in PB blaster for a day before you even attempt this. Drive around the block a couple times after each adjustment to settle the torsion springs

My passenger side never sits exactly the same as the drivers side; fuel tank is the culprit....I just leveled mine on a half tank of gas, it sits a little off on full & empty but not too bad in the 1/4 to 3/4 tank range which is where it usually is.
