Sounds like they are 4 cylinder gears.  They will work fine in 4 cylinder cases but you have to shim the hell out of the pinion.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

thats what it looks like to me, but our 4x4 shop here tells me that genuine sells the same gear set for both the 4 and the v6. just doesn't seem right.

we bought 4 sets. using a spool for the rear, and an electric for the front in mine. the reason i bought genuine is for the return policy.

This is just my opinion and my gear guys as well. He will not even install genuine gears because they are crap and hard to set-up. Just because they are cheap and have a lifetime warranty is no reason to buy them. A lot of good it is going to do you when you are in the middle of nowhere and you blow. I hope you do not think that 4WPW is going to come out and fix them for you.

When I first got started in this sport I ran them, I blew them, I got them replaced, and I sold the replacements.

ya know, i was just talkin bout that same thing with a buddy o mine. i did talk to a rep at Genuine gear, and he told me the gears are the same in both, but you have to double up on all the shims. my yota runs a 5.0 v8, geared to 183-1, with 42s on the ground. this is scaring me, i HATE breaking things on the trail. so now i ask, what gears should i use. i have no experience with the yukons.i think i will put the genuines in a 4 cyl howsing and sell the axles.

Sounds like you should be running 529 or 571. I think Motive or Precision is your best bet. Even though you have a V6 carrier you can use a "4 cyl" gear with no loss of strength. With those tires and crawl ratio, it sounds like a cryo is a real good idea. Set the gears only slightly deep.....about 17 In/lb of PPL....about 150 ft/lb on the carrier bearing adjusters....and use the recommended BL. You're good to go

This guy, Flexor, has 42" tires and runs cryo/heat treated 571 Precision rear gears for about 3 years now.

Flexor chose cryo treated Precisons for the return policy also....he liked the idea of returning from the trail under his own power :)
