Hydro-assist Fitting Question.
« on: Feb 25, 2008, 01:47:31 PM »
What would be the draw backs to using 1/8 NPT instead of 1/4 NPT for the fittings on the steering box?

Given the port size in the in the steering box, I do not think that flow will be a problem.

To restrictive in my opinion. One thing you do not want to do is starve the cylinder. You may also have a hard time finding high pressure hose and fittings in that size.

Actually the hose size does not change, just the pipe fitting end does.

McMaster Carr part numbers....

50695K161 -Steel 37 Degree Flared Tube Fitting Adapter for 1/4" Tube OD X 1/8" NPTF Male Pipe

50695K162 -Steel 37 Degree Flared Tube Fitting Adapter for 1/4" Tube OD X 1/4" NPTF Male Pipe

And no the F in NPTF is not for female, it is for fuel or dryseal.
