I was behind on my BLM newsletter reading and finally logged in and found this article about how during the President's holiday weekend they set up "Check Points" out in the desert in Kern Co. I think they are getting a little ridiculous, soon you won't be able to pass without providing your travel papers.  :shake:

Gottza catch them illegals, after all...  Oh, and get those access fees, or um.. "adventure pass" as they call it here in L.A.

How messed up is that?     I have to pay to drive up the mountains and park my truck.  It's like off-road parking meters on steroids.

They should make lifetime passes for all adventure passes and national parks and such.  I'd buy it.

I have a lifetime hunting and fishing license   In a few years it will have paid for itself and I'll be fishing and hunting for free for many more.

I hear that alot.  Is it really that bad?

You know I don't mind them enforcing the rules off highway because it discourages the type of behavior that gets our beloved trails closed.

I live in south West Va.  We have one designated jeep trail.  You can not run ATVs and your vehicle must be tagged insured and pass inspection.  Its not always open and you can never get a hold of the rangers to find out if its open, basically drive the hour to get there from my house find the gate locked and drive an hour back home.  Other than that I know a few guys with privet property then of course a few privet parks only know of 1 in VA about 1 1/2 hours from my house.
