I have a LC header on a stock engine and they claim it adds 10-15 ponies not sure if thats true but it's definitely noticeable.

Along this same line, whats everyone's take on the maximum amount of power that can be freed up from exhaust upgrades? (header, bigger piping, highflow cat, muffler)
22RE .30 over, mild cam, K&N, LCE header, 2.25'' pipe, high flow cat, Magnaflow.
 Marlin 1200LB clutch

 no substitute for 4wheel drive.

I can't see getting more than the claimed 10-15 from the whole combo, maybe a little bit more.  I've run everything listed except the cam and had noticable, but not great, gains.  Header, 2.5" all the way back, free flow muffler and no cat.  It helped, just not a ton.

If you're going with a big cam on a 22re you're kinda looking for trouble.  You'll have to remap the injection and possibly go with larger injectors to keep up with all the mods.

I've got a Downey header on my 85 EFI, i would say i got between 5-10 hp max, just enough to get it going a bit better.  I also saw about 1.5 MPG increase too.  My manifold was cracked which was my deciding factor.  Im running 2.5" through the cat into a flowmaster, and have 2.25" coming out of it and it runs really good with the added backpressure.

These engines don't need the back pressure everybody thinks they do.

I'm partial to 2.5" myself, but that's only because with my application I saw a drop in bottom end snap and torque when I necked down to 2.25".

2x the 2.5, if your going to throw headers on might as well go 2.5.
