Topic: want to build leaf springs for a 1985 toy.........help and pictures useful!

Hi,

This goes out to everyone who has made thier own leaf springs to to lift their rig. I want approximately a 3" lift for a 1985 toy. I have an extra leaf spring from my buddy and was thinking of just taking my rear leaf springs off and adding  1 or 2 leaves from the old to the new. Which got me to thinking......I know I need to buy leaf springs from the same year or model type to get the same results. The only thing is I don't know which ones to use, what length to cut them to and how much it will increase my height. If you guys could leave specific measurements, if you had to buy accessories,  and what problems you incurred that would be REALLY helpful. Last, if you could leave a pic of the end results that would be great too. Thanks in advance!

There is a lot on this subject.  I dont think you are limited by the type/year of the springs you use to attain lift/flex.  You are limited by the width of the spring itself (toys are 2.36'')..ive heard of people putting jeep springs in with toy springs to get a desired lift/flex combo.
