Rear Brake line routing?

WHat's the best way to route the rear hard brake lines to keep them from getting crunched or ripped of?

I just used the stock mounting points......on top of the axle is best though. I wanna re-do mine so they're on top

I have to run new rear brake lines tomorrow and figured I may as well go ahead and do them right the first time.  I've torn the line off on a stump before and it pretty much sucked.  There has to be a better way to run it...   :dunno:

Mine are in the stock location too and I've had no problems with them. If I was to reroute them I'd say the top of the axle would be good. Maybe even the top front part of the axle depending on the angle it's at.

I have ripped one from the drum, and bet a few up, and I have been running the stockish locations. You could always get some small angle, or tube and run your lines through that till you get to the ubolts and perches on each side.

That is a good idea, then drill through the back side of the perch and go up to the wheel cylinder.

As long as there wasn't enough vibration to rub a hole in it if it was touching.

true, you might have to think up some kind of bracket system to make up inside the tube or angle ....maybe utilize the stock brake line holders

This is a great idea. Hopefully I'll remember this when ever I get around to rerouting them.

Was just thinking....What about using a steel tube not much bigger then the brake line and cutting a section out of it big enough for the line to slide through. Kind of like a long U. Then shape it to the top of the axle and weld or make mounts for it. This would protect the line and make it easy to remove when needed.

depending on how much effort you plan on doing, you could wrap the stock lines in rubber hose before mounting it in anlge iron or a channel... then you wont have to worry about vibration or rubbing a hole through....

You could also use a small tube inside the angle iron, like you said not much bigger than the brake line and use some type of rubber grommets to hold the line in the center of the tube!

these are both great ideas!

I need to figure out something as well.  I smashed my drivers side line near the U-bolts sliding backwards off of a big rock into medium sized rock behind my axle.  Looks like I have another winter project

I ended up just tucking mine up under the back of the leaf springsand running it near the top of the axle housing.  I shortened it about 6" total to make it work that way.  In the future I may go ahead and drill some hols and run it through the actual spring perch, but I got in a hurry.   :willynilly:  All excited to go test the new suspension...  It is up out of the way though.  I'll post some pics ASAP.
