Yes the '79-'83 LB's do have the same dimensions the 2nd gen trucks do, however the front mounts are a little different, and when using them the bed sits farther back from the cab. I did this swap on my Dad's 2nd gen 2wd LB this Summer, I will post a picture for you of how it looks.
