did you upgrade anything up front BLACKDOG?
HD axles?
HD Torsion Bars?
BJ Spacers?
Type of shocks?

:nope:

I'm running the Pro Comp Stage II 4" lift with the shocks that came with it :dunno:  I know they're pro comps, but I'm not sure what series.

I'e got no interest in dumping money into this front end, I just want to see how long I can beat on it before it breaks.  I'll do repairs, but nothing to costly, and no upgrades.

Is there any one who is running Downey's Mega new long travel suspension kit for 86 -95 Toyota's?

http://www.downeyoff-road.com/SuspensionComponents/1986-95.html

I know it is for 86-95 Toyota's, it looks like Downey is making the same kit for 95 1/2 to 04 Toyota's

http://www.downeyoff-road.com/SuspensionComponents/1995-04_Tacoma.html

no, but im curious is how it performs, handles and holds up.

:dunno:  who knows?  Right now I am in a fire academy, so I don't have the time, and i'm not wheeling again until I get another vehicle.  It is my DD, and I can't afford for it to go down for any reason, let alone me crawling it. However, come Jan. when I get out of thew academy and start working on shift, I'll have more time to mess with it.  Even then, I'm going to leave the IFS alone until the truck needs it.  I'd really like to give little sluice a shot with the IFS, just to see if I can do it, but we'll see if that happens.  I'm already planning on dovetailing and bobbing the bed, and putting a little more body protection on the truck, plus new front and rear bumpers with a winch.  Down the road is a 4.3 swap, but that comes when the current 3.0 dies.  I've got duals already, and that really helps, so it it really just a waiting game to see just how much I can thrash it before it falls apart.  However, I do have moonrocks 20 minutes from me, so It may be sooner rather than later :gap:  I've already got the axle in storage, so when it comes time to do it, I'm already halfway there.

The one I have is toyota.  I haven't decided if I'll SAS it with that, or go full width 60s. :dunno:  If I stick with the yota axle, It'll be stuffed with longs, 5.29s, and probably an aussie locker.

The way the Sluice is right now, I doubt it's possible. You'll need alot of breakover clearance, bigger tires and don't mind body damage.

During MCR6 I surpirsed a few people that were following behind me, the whole time they thought my rig had a SFA. I know my limitations and even if I did a SAS, I wouldn't be able to handle any tougher lines I currently take, since body damage is guarranteed.

I like the rocks as much and doing the high speed Dezert stuff, in both cases it's a compromise, simply because I drive an SUV.... On the Con the ride was quite smooth and enjoyable, never had any issues with the front suspension. Since reworking the rear suspension, it made it much easier to take harder lines. As for the cost of the TC kit, I bought it 4 years ago and I'm not too sure the prices today.

I ordered the item 48609 for my 97 hilux surf... as i understand from the description, it will be installed on top of the mounting plate without preloading the coils.

but they gave me spacers that will be mounted between the coil and the mounting plate, thus preloading the springs. I dont see this spacers on their website.

I did talked to a certain Chris, then emailed the photo and invoice #.

How would you rate Downeys customer relations?

Btw, I am from the Philippines.

I do not know? Only thing I ever bought from Downey was there catalog. When I order the catalog they were really nice about that, even when calling about prices on parts they were nice. Never bought anything major from them and I don't know of any one that has. Best of luck to you.

I got an email reply from a certain Mike, to quote:

Ted, those are the correct spacers. We are temporarily using ToyTec spacers while ours are being redesigned. They are billet aluminum just like ours and give 2" lift just like ours. Only difference is that we use new bolts, they don't. If you need installation instructions just go to toytec's website and you can print them out. Thanks. Mike

..as this has been said , I replied and waiting to be answered back:

hey Mike,

for a while i thought i won't be able to get a reply. so, for now you are selling a different 48609 from the 2006 catalog and your current website photo? if so, is there a problem with the design shown in your website? I really liked the concept of placing them on top of the strut without preloading the spring.

anyway, I would like to request if you could email me the full content of the invoice  #94441, i just don't know if my friend there at 90249 lost it or just a "little busy/lazy" to respond to me on the full content of it so i can repay him through his relative here

it has these : rack and pinion bushings, bottom shock bushings, diff drop kit, the 48609, sway bar end link bushings or so... i really want an accurate tally with him and how was he charged for this 48609.

Thanks, i really appreciate this.

ted

I looked at the toytec website and saw the price at $120+ 12(shipping) and hoping we were charged by downey competitively and not the $160 on their site.

I guess this would be it for now...

I guess this is for now
