85 P/U build
« on: Oct 01, 2007, 05:18:31 PM »
This is my roomates buildup, he isn't very good with computers but he's pretty good with a welder... Here's how he bought the truck

no head, 3" bl, bobbed bed, 36" swampers- bootyfabbed as hell  :yikes:

the first thing he did was make a plan; he decided on running
propane from cary (gotpropane.com)
4" springs
86 rear axle w/ chromolly shafts 5.29's and a spool
85 front axle w/ 30 spline longs, 5.29's and a detroit
4.7:1 single case (for now)

first thing that he did while waiting for the parts is attempt to salvage the bed as well as dovetail it, we brought the rear in to frame width

now that the bed was done he made some half doors

another door shot

the following weekend we cut the fenders and painted it OD green

as some of the parts slowly started rolling in, the tires were mounted (37 MT/R's on procomp Xtreme wheels) the sliders went on and the springs were hung.

since then the rear frame has been gusseted and capped off since the rear shackle hangers had to sit ~.5" off of the frame.

there will be more to come as the progress comes along...

thanks, the green is krylon 'camo style' olive drab green that was painted, wet-sanded, and then painted and sanded again for a good finish to it.
