Pirate 4x4=hardcore???
« on: Sep 25, 2007, 11:02:18 PM »
I didn't start this thread to bash on anyone who frequents POR.  I am there more and more myself, which is what led to this thread.

Is is just me, or do they have(in the toy section anyhow) some of the stupidest freakin' questions ever thought up?  I don't mean ignorance of the machine...just purely stoopid questions?  Can I run a 17" wide tire on an 8" stock wheel? Can I change the cam in my toyota?  Do my balls sweat in the summer? Is a D60 wider than a Toyota axle? I just don't understand how they are so hardcore and not noob friendly yet they have all these morons running around...

Well,it's hard to say. Some of those questions are posted by stupid newbs but some of them are sometimes posted by old members who'll create a new account JUST to ask a dumb question and get everyone all exighted. You'd THINK the old members would catch on but some of them are so stupid themselves that they'll still flame those guys thinking it's a serious question.Pirate is probably the best place IMO to find the answer to just about any hardcore 4x4 related question, you just have to know where to ask or where to search because god forbid you post something in the wrong section  :shake: .Alot of the members on there are nothing more than hardcore web wheelers but most are serious wheelers.

I never have posted much in the Toy section, I just go to the Gen Chit-Chat area.

the funny thing is, I'm not over there looking for answers, I'm just bored with the lack of tech over here...thus I wander to POR. Only to be assaulted by Borat.

I do love the tread that pops up @ least once a week though."Marlin,All-Pro or Trail Gear?,what SAS kit?"  :shake: and of course it turns into a big ole bash fest...Sometimes you do find hella good deals on parts in the parts for sale section though.

I don't mind differences of opinion...but there are trolls who seem to live to talk crap, insult people and announce that the current topic is a repost.

Its the new sissyfied Pirate. Awhile ago people were told to play nice in the tech section, rampant(sp?) flaming is no longer allowed or ok. I think it is good in some ways and not so good in others.

It is spreading to chit-chat too. There was a huge thread about it last week.

PBB is deffinetly the top tech place, hell...I built my whole truck from the FAQ, but yeah, there are a lot of newbs/jeep converters/TV watchers that have been signing up recently. Between DRM/Crash/4RunnerRick they pretty much control the really lame chit, but the stupid noob question does slip through every now and then, eventually they all become Crash's pregnant dog.

The 17" wide tire one had me rolling in laughter.

there is some good hardcore tech there.  I spent an entire evening going throught the axle shaving section.

i think its just the fact that it really is the largest fourwheeling website on the internet.  that fact will automatically attract every retard you could think of because pirate will be right at the top probably everytime if you search for anything rockcrawling wise on google
