I used the Universal 12-Circuit harness for my 83 and I have to say that I'm pretty pleased on how it turned out. About the only issue you'll run across is wiring the headlight switch. Toyota switches are different than GM switches in that the switch ties a wire to ground to activate a relay for the headlights/tail-lights. It wasn't too hard in figuring out how to do that. I ran 2 relays in line with one another, one for headlight power and the other for high beam/low beam and of course one more relay for the tail lights. As for the axles...I would think they could take the abuse as long as your not too hard on the throttle. I'm running a 4.3 in mine. Good luck.
