i have an 89 pickup and am doing an SAS i just bought an 82 truck with a straight axel for a $100.... is that a good year axel to put in??? what do i have to get like brakes wise and driveshaft??

if you do your research, you dont have to spend all of that money at once- -  the rotors are from 85+ landcruiser,  and re use your ifs calipers, truss the axle with square tubing or buy the truss'.  you can piece the stuff together and save some $$$$$ or buy the kit and it has everything you need-- -  just remember- - you do get what you pay for when it comes to sas kits

so what ur saying is that i can piece my own kit together??? i have good fab skills and i would like to make my own stuff but it would be easier to buy the kit then make the spring hanger and shock hoops and stuff i just wasnt sure if the 82 axle would work... can't i use the 82 brakes and all???

Its cheaper in the long run if you buy the complete swap kit

yes you can use the brakes off of the 82 but it is really not recomended. the recomended way and the safest way is to use a landcruiser rotor or just buy them new from marlin. you also need steering. either fab your own (not recomended) or buy marlins and bolt it on. and also the 82 axle will work but it is lacking the all important long side that goes all the way to the u-bolts, marlin also has a truss that will fix that. 

the most important thing is research, dont try to tackle something like a SAS when you are not 100% sure about what is needed and why.
