New Meats For The 40
« on: Sep 01, 2007, 03:55:31 PM »
I am Putting so new meats on the 40 but here is the problem. It has  spring over and 35's now I am not sure how much lift it is going to take to run the in 37's. Most of the kit out there for the 40 series are between 2 and 4 inches. Does anybody know exactly how much lift it is going to take, and who makes the best lift kits for the 40's. JONNYFJ

I fit 37's with stock springs and spring over.  I rubbed the front part of mt front fender, but that was because i moved the front axle forward.  I also had to cut the rear fenders.

I would say 4 just to be on the safe side, you can probably get away with 2. Those 40's look nice with a 4 inch lift anyways. I don't know who makes the best lift but have heard some good stuff about OME i believe thats it anyways.

On a landcruiser, a 4" lift and spring over is waaaaaaaay to tall.  It will be super tippy.

In my opinion, it is better to keep it as low as possible and but the fenders.  The COG is the most important.

Sprung over I'd say throw on the 37s and trim where it rubs. It doesn't have to be hack to work either. Even a 2.5" aftermarket spring on a SOA rig is tall. My 42s fit with a spring over that was maybe 1.5" taller than a stock spring under setup.

I agree, anything over a stock SOA is getting pretty tall for 37's

I'm running 38.5x14.5-15 SXs SOA on stock springs with the fenders trimmed and 1.5" wheel spacers.  Only rubs a tiny bit if I really get her twisted hard in a ravine or wash...

Oh, I forgot to mention, there is NO WAY I'd want to be any taller...
