Smog in CA - Vaccuum tuging
« on: Feb 02, 2014, 11:28:27 AM »
I need to Smog my '81.

When I refurbished the ending, I disconnected most of the vacuum tube manifold that I was told was there for smog purposes only.

Do I need to reconnect all of those tubes in order to pass smog?

Can someone give me a more specific explanation of the purpose of all those vacuum tubes?

Bummer dude. You need a fsm (factory service manual) there are a lot of vaccuum lines. Not all are for smog, there are even 4 that go to the altitude compensator that most people plug, why because they have no idea what they do. I leave my engine stock, it runs great and passes smog 30 years later in Cali. I think I saw a downloadable fsm on yota tech

You only need them if you want to pass smog and register your rig.     there is a schematic on the inside of your hood
