Shocks
« on: Aug 22, 2007, 11:26:51 PM »
I am in the middle of installing the MC 5" lift kit and today I installed the shocks and new shock mounts. I have the 14" 5150's So my question is, How much should the shock be extended when the truck is sitting on flat surface. Im worried that my shock isn't extended out enough. I only have a about 4 inches.
Thanks

No i haven't put my front shocks on yet. I have to wait until i get the body on so I can line up my new shock hoops. But I mounted my rear  shocks and they are not extended out as much as I thought they should be sitting on the flat. There is only about 4 inches extended. Is this normal

That would greatly depend on the angle of your shocks. :twocents:

This is how mine sit.

Better be careful about showing those secret piviots, some other company might steal the idea patent, market them and try to sue you.  ::)

You missed a spot on the left side of that axle, starting to rust a little there.

So whats better. to put the rear top shock mounts on the cross member in the center of the truck or mount the shocks in the factory location. Mime are in the factory location now and only about 4 inches of the shock is extented . I don't think this is enough. So i'm going to cut the factory ones off and build extentions. so should i build the mounts in the center of the truck or build them on the frame rails
