'91 Pickup ExtraCab 4x4 3.0L 5spd Red

I have been over on yotatech for some time now and ventured over here more than a few times. I have recently found a very nice SFA from an '80s model toyota pickup and thinking about making the swap. I'm sure there are plenty on here that have done this and I can't wait to start reading up. I don't have a lot of money so as much of a budget buildup help would be appriciated. OR. Point me in the right direction. I'll talk more later and look forward to talking with everyone about my build.

I haven't really done anything to the truck. I haven't wanted to start one way and waste the money to end up paying twice as much the 2nd time around and it's really hard to make up my mind.

Some input would be nice ... to SAS or keep IFS ?

SAS well worth it especially being a 3rd gen.    ifs is junk. SAS, lift, 37's, gears, a locker and some trail armor and you are set! My

my only delima with a sas is that I'm not running more than a 33inch tire. this truck is my DD and will be for a few years. plus, I haven't seen any budget buildups on this board. everyone uses the marlin (or compriable) kits. I don't have the money for the axle, kit, gears, locker, and install.

any suggestions ... besides save up the money, but buy the axle now?

I was thinking I might keep the IFS till it gives way or just all together. I'm only a weekend warrior maybe once a month or twice sometimes. Here's what's been on my mind:

I have:
33x10x50 BFG ATs
15x7 SR5 Wheels
Raised Cat-back Exhaust
Upgraded Lighting

I Was Thinking:
15x8 - some kind of rim - more meat to ground
Sonoran Steel IFS Truss
Downey Idle Arm Brace
4.88 gears F & R
Locker(s) cant decide about front or kind for either
4cyl t/case with 4.7.1 (maybe)
Budbuilt skids/crossmember
CBI Bumpers F & R and Sliders
Replace Rear Springs (maybe)
1.5" BJ Spacers (maybe)

I know it seems like a lot to do to an IFS to most of, if not all of, you guys but I'm just leary of the SAS and how high it maakes the truck sit up. I don't use my truck for that much offroad use and I'm just wondering iff the SAS is worth it for someone who doesn't use his/her truck maybe 1 time a month on a trail.

That being said : from the list above what would be the best place to start on my truck.

PS ~ I kinda like being the IFS guy. I have seen a good number og IFS rigs over on yotatech ruun some awsome trails. There aren't really rock trails around here, just things that take some smart thinking and a good spotter.

It may not be an IFS but it will give you an idea of what you can do on a budget build. I do as little as possible to make my trucks capable wheelers. I have done IFS budget builds too. Here's my suggestion for an excellent budget build without the frills:

2" bodylift, unbolt, remove & toss the swaybar, replace the upper and lower front bumpstops with some slim neoprine stops, crank the torsion bars in for an additional 1 to 2 inches of lift, throw on 33's, regear the diffs to 4.88's or 5.29's (4.88's will be more street friendly and 5.29's will be slightly low for the street), lockers front and rear, and if you don't have an auto trans some sort (Marlincrawler)  a single tcase gear reduction. The rest of your budget build will continue to progress as you reach its limitations thus keeping you within a buget.
