wooohooo 85 4runner
« on: Sep 03, 2006, 12:52:49 AM »
i got rid of my 84 landcruiser and got a 85 4runner in pretty good condition needs a motor and a tranny,  really undecided on what to do with it, make it look nice be a dialy driver and occasional offroader or make it a trailer queen and only a weekend offroader,
im thinkin about putting a 350 in it to me there easier to work on than a toyota motor,   thinkin about painting it a black and kawasaki green camoflauge pattern,

ill try to get pics up of it tonight,
its a truck its built for this kind of stuff.

I don't think that scheme will be very "camo"!
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

ok heres the plans for it so far,

body
2"body lift
painted black and lime green
lund moonvisor  since i allready have one and nothing to put it on
bushwacker fender flares/fenders trimmed
rock sliders

Interior
spray on bedliner  the  whole floor of the  interior
the sides and doors alluminum diamond plated
cab roll cage  i want to build a roll cage for the whole thing
ss corbeau seats w/5 point harness seatbelts

suspension
 rears up front
63" chevys in rear maybe  undecided on that
6" shackles   undecided on that too would that be too long for the 63"s i read that long shackles r better for the 63s

motor and running gear
350 w/automatic tranny to a toyota transfercase dual transfers maybe?
built axles  w/rear detroit locker, limited slip front maybe?

tires and wheels
35x12.50x15 boggers
15x10" wheels

this build is gonna take awhile ill say 2 years max but i want it drivable by next summer,
right now im working on the body sanding it down for primer then to the paint job,   then im gonna start on the suspension and rebuilding the 350,

its a truck its built for this kind of stuff.

havent really written on this post ina while, i got my landcruiser back, and in about a week im gettin a toyota pickup 88 or 89 has ifs, the motor is pretty new though, was just put in last summer and i got to drive it home for my cousins fiancee about 15 miles, the battery died and he just left it at my aunts house  never tried startin it after that and im gettin it for $500 flippen score huh, thinkin about puttin the motor in the 4 runner if i cant get the title for the pickup, i dont think the wifes gonna let me though so i might have to stick with the 350.  ill have pics of it soon
