spring shackles
« on: Mar 07, 2007, 10:20:28 PM »
my 85 truck rides around 1 inch lower on the back right side than the left. I have a 3 inch all spring lift kit that I installed from rough country a couple years ago. (The front springs are superlift, the rear springs are  rough country) After I installed them and they settled for a bit the rear right began to ride a little lower than the other side. Even after I loaded by bed completly full of snow, did some rock crawling, bent the back springs  :smack: , and replaced them, after they settled the back still rides about 1" lower.
I also want get the long marlin shackles, so for a quick fix I was going to get 3 of the shackles the same length, and then get the shackle for the rear right spring 1" longer. Does anyone have any ideas about why this could be hapenning?

Thats not a verry god fix. A shackle will only make 1/2 inch of lift per inch of length added becouse you are only lifting half the spring. I would say that spring wrap is probably what is killing your springs. The best long term fix would be to buy a better spring pack, and possibly a anti wrap bar. If you do try to fix the height difference with longer shackles, be aware it could effect your handeling. I don't think any manufactuer would sell ya a mismached set of shackles.
Hug your kids, pray for a soldier, and don't sweat the small stuff.

I have 63" chevies  with only a six inch shackle.  I would define the purpose of what you want to use this rig for first.  Hopefully it is some :driving:
bfg KM2's, 3" plain lift, detroit in front hp, twin sticking too.
