Welding axles
« on: Jun 04, 2008, 05:31:01 PM »
I'm in need of some help, my friend is a jeep nut and asked if I knew how to weld his axles for a cheap locker. I said no but would ask on the  :turtle: forum. If there is anyone who could direct me to a 'link' or a good explanation I would appreciate it.
Thanks DanS

are you asking about welding up the spiders?  Its done the same as any other rig I would guess.  Take some time weld the spiders up real well. pre heat if posable.  and it doesnt hurt to put in a filler plate front and back for some extra weld surface to contact and keep the spiders from breaking free..
Life is too short!!!   Do something with it!!!

Thanks 'Skipin', what I'm in need of is photo's to copy and give to my friend, as I said he is an avid Jeep fan and his rig is a trailer traveller to his favorite spots. What about the link to the 'extreme 4x4', I think they did a segment!
For now thanks again, DanS
