highsteer and IFS box
« on: Feb 08, 2007, 12:40:58 AM »
So one quick question....When installing rear springs up front and putting in an ifs box with marling highsteer. Do you have to lengthen the steering shaft at all? I know you have to move the ifs box as far forward as you can so have any of you had to lengthen your steering shaft? Thanks

You can drill the original shear pins at the slip yolk out. After you drill them out the shaft will extend far enough to hook up to the box.
You will need to drill new holes and intall a roll pin to keep the shaft from falling apart.
My box is moved as far forward as it would go and the stock shaft was still long enough.

Awesome. Good to hear. How far did you end up moving the box? I know you have to cut some of the core support out. Thanks for the help

you actually don't have to cut the core support if you are using the stock mounts.  but if you move it farther then that then you will have to.

I don't remember exactly how many inches forward it is , but we cut the support and moved it as far forward as we could due to the fact that we moved the front axle forward.
The stock steering shaft was still long enough to work.
