runnin rich
« on: Dec 08, 2006, 10:31:34 PM »
so ive had some problems with my 79 yota, it has a 22re out of a 90 2wd pickup, and it started runnin rich on the trail when i was idiling around, it runs fine on the street, but when im crawlin with low rpm's for awhile it starts runnin so rich, that it barely runs at all.

So i got sick of changin plugs on the trail, so i unplugged most of the sensors on the motor, and it runs fine on the trail for a while. But it still runs rich after a couple of hours, the sensors that made a huge diff, are the 2 on the bottom friont of the intake manifold, does toyota carry these sensors, and are they expensive?

That's kinda like asking if tires are expensive!  Before you go throwing parts at it and wasting money, I'd suggest checking codes.  You'll undoubtedly have a couple stored because of this, the root cause and others that were side effects.  After that I'd try to have the sensors themselves tested if possible.  If you find out for sure what sensors you need, go to general 4wd section and click on the sticky at the top about a discount on factory toyota parts, the rest should write itself.  Good luck
RIP KYOTA

You can go through life being scared of the possible, or you can have a little fun and tease the inevitable.

Give a man venison, he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to hunt Blacktail, he'll be frustrated for life!
