T-Case input gear Q
« on: Oct 05, 2006, 07:51:41 PM »
I tore down two transfer cases last week.  I would like to use the input gear that is not rusted (it's only surface rust though), but when the case broke, it shattered the pocket bearing, and put some indentations on the input shaft.  So, my question is, would it be OK to hit the shaft with some 320 emery cloth and smooth it out, or should I run the surface rusted input with these little burrs on the gear? This will be going in a reduction box in front of a stock t-case.

from the pics provided i'd say run the one with the indintations on the shaft. that other one looks like it definently needs some emory cloth and some elbow grease.

how deep are the indintations on the shaft??
