After the long journey from Calico the Spinnin' fours took the Mammoth's to Big Bear for some cooling off since the desert was so hot, the trip was eventful due to the fuel issues the Lantherian Battle Cruiser was having. It took most of the afternoon to fix the problem so we just set up camp and kicked back on Thursday. Friday came and we decided to introduce the Willy Mammoth to Gold Mountain and the Gold Mtn. Rockgarden. The trail provided some awsome views and over looks of Baldwin & Big Bear Lakes, and across the whole valley. Once we got to the rockgarden everyone picked a route and started playing in the rocks, Mrs. W says it sounded like you were driving over glass since all the rocks big and small are loose and grind together as you drive over them. Scott took off over the biggest rocks he could find and promptly got stuck since the rocks just spit out as you try to climb them and I started trying to get him free, I threw some rocks in the holes and then told him to drive forward and bang! No not a broken axle but one of the rocks spit back out and smacked my finger breaking it above the 1st knuckle, owwwww that hurt. While I was off tending to my injury some others started helping him get free and blew out his front right tire on a sharp rock so they got him to a fairly level spot and changed the tire. The Willy Mammoth tackled the garden and spit it out the exsuast stack, climbing several tough sections, Fred (lil' Samurai) tried some of the lines Scott took in his Bronco and got himself stuck and then in his attemps to free himself without help and just made matters worse for himself. After a heavy rock stacking, Caltrans road building we got him rolling and out of the garden. With the Bronco's tire fixed we took off through to the other side of the garden and back to the Gold Mountain Trail and to 3N16. We were expecting more friends to show so we headed back to our basecamp at Hanna Flats to see if they had arrived and get a late lunch.
