motor finally gave and iam in iraq, lame
« on: Sep 06, 2006, 12:18:15 PM »

how much does this suck. my wife was driving my truck to her work and it broke down on her. she had it towed to toyota of san lous obispo. they told her it needed a new motor and they could put one in for a little over $7000. haaaaa yep $7000. i wish i could have been there to hear that. oh yeah iam still in kuwait driving up and down iraq doing convoys. i already had planed to rebuild the motor when i got home. i even have a post about what i should do to the motor. so now i got to get it from S.L.O to vandenberg air force base(home) and get a motor to put in it, first thing when i get home. on top of all the other stuff i have to do when i get home. so now when i get home all i got to get around is my mnt bike. well one good thing is when i get home money wont be a problem. i was able to save a nice little chunk while i was here.
be home some time in nov.
cant wait.
got another 85 runner. build coming soon!!

it was a 22re. it only had 220k on it. its alot but not for that motor. it ran fine on the flats but was horrible on the hills. one time i went to sierra summit and had to put it in 1st gear to make it up the hill. i wanted to drive it off a cliff. i'm hoping i can rebuild the motor. if not i will probably buy a running motor then have it bored, cammed, throw in some bigger valves and have it rebuilt.
iam hoping after all that i will be able to pull up those same hills in 3rd.
i also have some axles with 4.88, lockers f/r and some fresh 35's sitting in the garage.
i got a little over 60 days here then i get to go home.
wish me luck
