« on: Sep 06, 2006, 09:32:10 PM »
Last year I looked up directions on www.mapquest.com  and I entered Robb's Resort as a final destination and it gave me some bunk directions and I ended up about 45 miles away.I eventually ended up in Loon Lake but had to ask about 4 different people for directions. Can anyone help a brotha out?,maybe give me an address that I can type in for full directions,or some what close directions to Loon Lake.

North on 5
East on 50
left onto Icehouse road.  You're gonna ride icehouse a long way up, and eventually (like 15-20 miles in) the road forks.  You should see a sign that says Loon Lake reservoir pointing to the right fork, take it  that'll put you right at loon.

Skip this part.  Just stay on five.  If you're leaving SoCal around between 1-2, you may run right into rush hour, and 99 is always worse than 5.

Take the US-50 exit toward SOUTH LAKE TAHOE - go 62.8 mi
Turn  on ICEHOUSE RD

Last two times I clocked it it was 30 miles :headscratch:

Infernal... I don't believe there is an exact address :dunno: But if you can find 5 North from your place then yer set

Riverton, Ca
Shows up in Yahoo, but not in Mapquest.
That is the closest you'll get.

:slap: that was a guess :headshake:  Robbs' is 23 miles in, so the turnoff to loon is prolly, what, 5 miles past that? :dunno:  7 I guess? :dunno:

Infernal STOP

Look. The #1 best most ideal route is to take Grant Line Road just before Elk Grove from 99 and take that up to 50.

If you take I-5 from the bottom of the Grape Vine:
Stay on I-5 until you get to Stockton.
Take HWY4 East across to HWY99.

If you take HWY99 from the bottom of the Grape Vine:
Stay on 99 through Bakersfield, Fresno, Merced, Stockton....

Once you are on 99 at Stockton, continue North bound.
About 10 Miles North of Galt, you will come up to Grant Line Road. There is an Arco AM/PM station there that has cheap gas. Great place to fill up before Pollock Pines.
Take Grant Line Road East towards the Nevadas. You will COMPLETELY by-pass Sacratomatoe.
After about 20 Miles, you will start to see HWY50 to the left. Once you have a visual on Hwy50, slow down a bit and you want to look for a Left Turn onto Scott Road.
Take Scott Road about 1 mile over to Hwy50. Turn right and merge onto Hwy50 and head up hill.

Of course you will go through Cameron Park, Placerville and whatnot. Beyond Placerville you will come up to Pollock Pines. Look for the Sky Park Exit on the right. Turn LEFT onto Sky Park road and go underneath Hwy50. You will get to a nice little area with a good Shell gas station, a Tacosmell, and a Grocery Store. This is the last chance for gas so top it off here.

Ice House Road is only another 10 miles down Hwy50 after Sky Park Road.

That is the best route. HWY99 to Grant Line. Grant Line to Scott Road. Scott Road to Hwy50. Hwy50 up-
