SM420 to FJ40 Transfercase
« on: Jan 03, 2007, 09:09:43 PM »
Swapping a SBC/SM420 into a buddies 72 FJ40, we're not sure which way to go on adapting the SM420 to the stock transfercase.  We're looking for something in a decent price range.  Also, if you know anyone selling one let us know.  Thanks.  :beerchug:

Check out Advanced Adapters for a new one. THey have been building them for a while. For used, you might find one here every now and then: http://forum.ih8mud.com/forumdisplay.php?f=12

I would not recomend an AA unit the inner splines on the spud shaft wore out in mine.  I would go with a ToyBox or a plate type adapter.  I think Extreme Bends makes one, or they did.  Look on ih8mud.com and email Woody (screen name) about it.

I've got a rebuilt SM420 (MC Style) and a 3/4" thick Extreme Bends adapter for sale. The adapter clocks the t-case to clear the trans better and to help with drive shaft angles with a SOA lift. I've had a changed plans so I no longer need it.
