4.3 vortec engine parts
« on: Jun 02, 2006, 04:04:10 PM »
Okay, picking up a 4.3 vortec this weekend and I need to find a few things. If anyone can help me out that would great.

1. TBI, nearest I can tell it can come off of 5.7, 5.0, or of course the 4.3

2. Engine harness and ECM/ECU

3. Exhaust manifolds

and if by any chance anyone has a bellhousing adapter to mate chevy engine to the toy trans W56 that would be a bonus.

I am sure there is going to be more but this is the biggest things I am going to have to gather.

Thanks in advance.

I am hoping someone closer has them also but options are good.  Does the TBI have the sensors on it?

84 ext cab project: current status-complete frame off: 4.3 is at the rebuilder's, 700R4 and dual cases still in the works. front lift prolly ORS's coilover. Rear-TBD. Will upgrade the axle shafts and birfs (longs) and brakes. 37" to 38" tires. Mostly a crawler, explorer vehicle, will drive on street some. Lots to go still...gutted cab needs seats, dash, etc, build the "bed", fuel cell, exo cage(?) and misc other stuff I'm sure I'm forgetting. Open to suggestions as I go.

what headers did you get, im gonna be needing some too, what tranny are you running and are you going to run a Y pipe or connector of some sort?

The headers I got are some edelbrock shorty's, they are not a perfect fit and will require some modifications on the passenger side.  It shouldn't be too bad though, either cut the collector off and shorten it up a bit or heat them up with a torch and bend it up a bit.  Either way it won't take much.  I am going to just run dual exhaust, just make it easier to run it down.  I don't have emissions here so no biggie for me.

As far as which tranny, I am keeping with my stock W56 so I don't have to modify a bunch of stuff to make my dual cases adapt to something.  I was thinking of going to an SM420 which will bolt straight to the 4.3 but I couldn't find an adapter for my duals.  I know there has to be some out there but oh well.  I do know there was no way in hell I was going to go with a slushy.
