Fuel Pump Question
« on: May 30, 2006, 05:26:54 PM »
Wondering if a mechanical fuel pump from a 22r will fit a 22re block and also is there a rod that is needed to run off the camshaft like in a small block chev.

The mech fuel pump has two bolts that bolt to the head not the block. It bolts onto the intake side at the front. There should be a port there, maybe with a plate on it depending on the years, I'm not 100% sure on that part. The mech pump has a lever that runs on a cam that is bolted on the front of the cam shaft. Check out a haynes manual for a visual. Sorry my descriptions aren't the best...

Ya sorry i meant the head so it dosen't have a rod, it runs off the arm that is on the fuel pump. And there is a block off plate there.

As far as I know the lever for the pump sits right on a metal collar that bolts on behind the upper timing gear as long as you have a plastic spacer between the fuel pump and the head you should be good go. Go to http:www.parts america.com  and enter the desired info
