twin stick 4wd moving under load?
« on: Mar 22, 2006, 10:09:43 PM »
hey,
i recently installed the twin sticks into my buggy and i noticed that the 4wd lever (right one) sometimes slides half a click forward under load.  not totally into 2wd, but halfway.  i have the heavy duty springs in there, but it still does it.  any help?

Maybe the detent ball fell out when you put in the heavy duty spring? Does it have a nice notchy shift to it?

Boy, that's a technical term  One thing that also may affect shifting is the shift hub itself. If it is worn, it can cause problems. It is too bad the case has to be disassembled to figure that out. I always look at them and turn them around if possible to get even wear.

mike,
i know the balls are still in there, i have it in a show right now and i plan on wheeling the hell out of it when i am done.  it's as if it just slightly moves, and the disengagement makes a click through the front driveline, but i do not believe i lose 4wd.  as far as the shift hub goes, i hope not ......i would rather NEVER pull that case from my buggy again.  tightest fit i have ever seen.
