Topic: Winch cable/Wire rope maintenance

Well I'm doing some maintenance on my recovery gear and I want to lube my winch cable.  I remember reading an article on pirate about winch cable and I think it mentioned what to use but I can't find it. I googled it and got two answers. One said to use a lube designed for chains and cables, the other said to use a silicon spray lube.
 What do you guys use?

That LPS 3 sounds like good stuff. I'll run to Napa in the morning and see if they have any.
I do have a can of Bel-Ray superclean chain lube for my dirtbike, its the wax kind. Do you think that would be good for cable?

You know that old oil that you just changed out of your truck?  No since in wasting it in the recycle bin at Autozone, lightly coat your cable with it.
