Bumper Mounts?
« on: Mar 20, 2007, 07:58:28 AM »
So a friend of mine is gonna bend up a tube bumper for me.
However, I'm a bit lost as to how the bumper mounts up to my truck. I took these pics today and don't see a way to mount the bumper to mount up.

Am I missing something?

That hole next to the rusty cow killer is one of the mounts.

There should be 2 mounting holes about 3.5" apart with a 10mm hole 2" to the outside of each.

Where are these two holes?

Ah, i see now. So maybe this cow killer thing is covering or I just can't see them in the pics.
Thanks Minisimp.

Next question, I want to mount a winch to this bumper. I'm guessing a plate would be the best idea but no one makes a plate for the 82, there all 84+. Fabbing a plate should be pretty easy. I'm assuming bolt it to the bumper holes and maybe weld it in a few places too?
Or will the 84+ plates fit with some mods?

1st gens have different bumper mounts than the 2nd gens.  The cow killer isn't coving any holes.

See picture.

1st Bolt hole one is obvious, the second one is located ontop of the frame couple inches back from the grill.

Ah, thanks.

Any opinions on the winch plate?

weld a piece of flat bar on top of the stock spring hanger and go from there.
