i was wondering what the dash pot does and when u lok at the vaccum diagram and at the end of it theres a thing called a VTV whats all this stuff about . thanks for the help
86' yota, extra cab, duals, HP frnt with detroit 4.88s, V6 rear with detroit 4.88s, bobby super set, driveline tech dl's, neat lil upgrades on the way can someone say 4link and dovetail front...

The dashpot is used to hold the throttle open on deceleration a short time- one to keep the engine from dieing from the rapid throttle closing, and two to help decrease emissions from the engine rapidly going rich due to the closed throttle.  With the engine off, crack open the throttle.  You will see the dashpot extend, then release the throttle and watch it slowly close as the dashpot retracts.

it also makes for a little bit smoother shifting, since the throttle doesn't slam closed as soon as you take your foot off the gas.
