4.7 Gear Transfer cae
« on: Sep 21, 2005, 11:55:05 PM »
1999 4Runner 2.7 5spd

This is still my DD. was curious for now if it were possible to swap out my transfer case with one with 4.7 gears instead of the 2.28.  It would give me a bit more control while wheelin at the same time, might mot cause the wife to shut off the spigot to my mods.

First is it possible aand if so, what would the cost be with or without a core charge?

Well unfortunatly for you Marlin doesn't have gears that will go into your t-case. Your only option at this time is a dual case. (which is better anyway, since it gives you more gearing options)
Marlins Taco crawler uses an adapter from your stock 5spd to an early t-case crawl box, then another adapter back to your stock t-case. The reason you have to go back to your stock t-case is because the drive shaft comes out on the oposite side from the earlier ones.
According to the web page your looking at $1525 for a built unit ready to bolt in.
Then you will have to have a longer front d-shaft and a shortened rear d-shaft made.
This is an awsome upgrade and it won't effect your daily driving at all.
