GPS software?
« on: Jun 14, 2005, 08:59:26 AM »
I just got a magellan Sportrack color gps.  It is just what I wanted and works very well.  But I have a problem,  my dad has the $150 topo software and I want to use it on my computer too.  But you have to have the cd to run it.  The cd is protected from coping by I believe tages.  Any body know how to get around this. I have two diffrent virtual cd programs and have tried making a copy of the cd and mounting a virtual drive and it will not take either.  Not only do I want a copy but he uses it all the time when we go  :driving:  and he is already seeing wear on the cd and if it gets damaged he is screwed.  any suggestions or links will be greatly appreciated.

I havent messed with this stuff in a while, but I think I remember some program out there thats called "Exact cd copy" or something to that effect. It will basically mirror the data, however the newer cd's may be able to even defeat that. Sorry thats not much help, but I know that software is expensive, I lost my Garmin cd    :smack:

I have the same software that I borrowed from my buddy. Thing is that I just did a Full Download and I dont ever need the CD. Its like a 800MB file but Its still working to this date. Over a year and a half now. Just get the CD and see if you can do a Full Download.

THis is the new 3d topo software.  all the install options require that the cd be inserted to run

Thats lame. Does it have a Custom setup thing so you can maybe try to get it to work without the CD?
