another tranny/clutch troubles
« on: Apr 12, 2003, 12:51:29 PM »
my w56 in my 92 p/u 3 weeks ago died on the way to the hammers. after yanking it i took it as a core to marlin and got replacement w56 HD from the same year yota. i didnt mess with the clutch or slave, just reinstalled and now after bleeding the clutch, it is difficult to get it to engage. if i start with it in 1st with the clutch engaged, it is already slightly crawling and as i release, it requires very little upward travel on the pedal. i adjusted the rod on the master to the clutch pedal out as far as possible. its alittle better but not much. in the FSM, there doesnt seem to be anyother adjustment on the slave push rod. i dont understand why if ive bleed it and have only replaced the tranny for another, nearly exact model and didnt flopp with the clutch plate or anything else. any suggestions would be appreciated.

ive ran into this one a few times. lemme guess it is hard to get in gear if you start it in neutral and try to put it in gear.  and when you start it in gear with your foot on the clutch rig in gear it trys to creep forward?  betcha the pilot bearing is toast and is holding onto the input shaft and not letting it dissengage.  hope this helps good luck :thumb:

when you slide the input shaft in the pilot bearing it is very easy to get the trans cocked one way or the other and ruin a once perfectly good bearing
