toyota 8 inch solid spacer install
« on: Dec 05, 2021, 12:31:39 PM »
I'm trying to install a solid spacer during a rear end rebuild.  When I install the spacer without any shims, then torque the nut to as low as 80 inch/pounds, I am not able to turn the pinion gear.  The solid spacer's length is 2.371" and the original crush sleeve is 2.38".  Everything is new...the ring/pinion gear and all bearings.

It's a 1986 4runner with non-turbo 22re originally.  Everything was ordered for toyota 8" with 4 cylinder, but here are part numbers in case that plays a role.

Trail Gear 140059-1-KIT  solid spacer kit

Motive Gear MGR-T411 ring and pinion set.

Appreciate any replies

Well it looks like the solid spacer is shorter than your old crush sleeve so its going to do exactly that. You put shims on until you get the proper rotating torque. (without the seal)

I'm guessing you already figured this out. If you're still working on it, check out Zuk's site. toyotagearinstalls.com
