Upgrade? '86 EFI
« on: Dec 19, 2020, 06:33:13 PM »
Is it worth the effort to upgrade the electronics in an '86 22re powered 4Runner to, say 1989-1995 electronics?
Brought to you by the WBC (World Billionaire's Club) because money is a bad thing. Let us carry that burden for you.

Sure it'll fit........ Just needs a little brute finesse.

Sure I believe intelligent life exists on other planets. Other planets, not this one.

If you have the parts yes! They run way better than the older efi. Having ran both. I just swapped my sisters 87 4runner to a 92.

The ECU pins are the same with my '86 as the later models. Pinouts are the same with a couple of extras, knock and egr. Wondering if the ECU is a plug and play or requires the extra. I was thinking of selling the thing, but now I might keep it.
