Noob question for sure. i am wanting to swap a 3.4l into a first gen truck and do not want to use a body lift. Truck is basically a blank slate so i can move the engine wherever it needs to go.

Bonus points if it will fit under the hood with a supercharger bolted on top of the 3.4l.

No way its going to work with a supercharger without a body lift. Would be surprised if it would work with just the base engine too. Could always cut out the hood.  :dunno:

This build is going to be more of a restomod type truck. Not sure if i want a supercharger popping up out of the hood. Seems like that or a BL are my only two options. The goal is to keep this one all toyota. I might just do a turbo 2/3Rz instead. Dont really want a BL.

Both are great engines. Turbo 3rz is a sick combo.

Idk why everyone has such a hard on against BL.  Done correctly there is nothing wrong with them.  It also helps immensely with the bell bolts, it helps cooling, it helps belly tuck.

Reality is i think you need maybe an inch to clear a 3.4.
If you are going into a first gen, you have to build new motor mounts anyway, position the motor wherever you want.
hold this. . .

I get the need to body lifts. I had one on my last first gen to stuff a 6.0 in. I dont want one because i hate the way they look. This rig will not be a crawler. I already have one of those. This one is a blank slate with a buick 231 installed (not running) to a 4-speed. That will not fly in Houston traffic.

As you said, i will need to build new mounts anyways. Just wanted to see if anyone stuffed one in there on custom mounts without using a BL.

Reach out to slacker. He has a 1st gen (trekker) with a sc 3.4 swap.

My vote for your swap is 2/3rz if you feel the need for horsepressure then swap a turbo set up on it.

I may see if I can squeeze a UZ in there as well.

I wouldn't want to work on motor issues, I'll say that. I'll go ford on it and pull the body lol.

I decided to make things hard on myself and stuff a 99 GS400 1UZ into my RHD. I want the radiator up front so I will recess things into the firewall if needed. No body lift. Bolting it to a r150f via adapters.

Gonna be like getting that first piece when you were a teenager. Tight, hard to get, and really fun when you get it in.
