5 speed transmission for a 2 wheel drive truck.
« on: Jul 10, 2016, 10:26:32 PM »
I am helping out an older retired friend restore his one owner 81. The current 4 speed shifts like stirring a bowl of chunky soup. Anyway something that shifts good in the 83-85 years that is 5 speed would be great.
What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point, in your rambling incoherent response, were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I think I have a 5 speed in my 1980 parts truck.  I'll check it out this afternoon and let you know Monday

OK it is in fact the 5 speed in an SR5 1980 2WD pickup.  The truck was in a rollover years ago so I would assume the trans was working when it was wrecked.

I am located in Highwood MT.  I would be willing to send it to you for $25 plus freight.  I figure the $25 should cover packaging materials and you can just have the trans.  If you are interested let me know via PM and I will try to get a shipping quote.  Might be too much, I don't know.

the w55 might be too long a transmission and could require a different driveshaft...
All the L series transmissions were pretty short.
Sand, what fun, drop pressure to 12psi, stock tires are still digging, can't afford to get stuck, 8psi, still not working. Find a place to GET OUT, air up, un-lock hubs,  WAIT whats this, hubs are UN-LOCKED already. 2wd, 8psi, stock tires, Oregon sand dunes.

Yes the w is longer than the L but is a common upgrade if someone wants a transmission that is 200% stronger than the L
