« on: Aug 22, 2016, 08:49:35 AM »
Was going to put a Cresida engine into my80,tight fit but cool. Was hanging out with a buddy working on his boat,it has a 140 hp four cylinder in it built by Merccruser, looks like a chevy bell housing.Think it would be a great alternative   .

Your referring to a 3.0 gm 4 cylinder. It's the same as the 2.5 they put in s10 pickups. I wouldn't wast the time. If you want power do a Ls v8 swap. If you want a 4 cylinder go for a 2rz o 3rz.

Same basic engines that came in the grossly underpowered jeeps and willys.  Absolute waste of your time.  Rating is at the flywheel.  Only place I'd use one is to replace the engine in an s10, mostly cause they have forged internals

Guess I should add that I used to work on them and have seen no other engines put so many rods through the block
