Topic: What transfer cases came with 4 speed transmissions?

I would like some help with obtaining a good transfer case.  I need a top shift t/c to swap in a 3.4L with automatic into a '92 pickup.  I ordered the adapter plate that mates the automatic with a 23-spline, top-shift case.  I have an old turbo 4-cylinder trans and t/c (with a cracked case).  I was going to harvest 23 spline input gear from it.

I placed an add on C/L looking for a t/c.  A guy responded and was has a t/c attached to a 4-speed trans.  Does this mean that this is a 1979-1982 L43 or L53 trans and a  Type 1-A or 1-B t/c?  Were there any Type 3 EFI cases that came attached to a 4-speed?  If so, how can I identify it?

The reason I ask is because I want to know what my best option is.  Can I remove the components from the Type 4 Turbo t/c and install them into the top shift case (using the necessary top-shift components).  Does the 'quite-run' gears from the later units make a difference compared to the early 'noisy' gears?

I do recommend getting that 4 speed t-case. Theres nothing different about it that would concern you. The guts are all interchangable. The t-case that came behind, say, an L43, has an input shaft that has a raised edge on the splines. But since you are swapping all the guts out anyway, that doesnt concern you. There isnt much difference in the two different gear sets. (noisey vs quiet). Its all loud to me when you push 3000 rpm in low 5th gear. Just turn up the radio.
