Forward shift/Top shift
« on: Apr 21, 2016, 09:42:44 PM »
I've been thinking lately, I know I've been told this can't be done but why? I have a W56C and W56B, Both were complete with T-cases, now when my C went I put the B in with the top shift, but my question is couldn't you put a forward shift t-case from the W56C on a W56B as long as you had the different shift with both the T-case and tranny on one? Or is there something different I'm not seeing? I've been searching but haven't found a thread on this topic, just the differences between the two t-cases

Because current trans is top shift, you would leave that as your crawl box, which would leave you with the 2wd/4wd shift rail and fork, at that point, you would just need adapter and 4hi/4lo shift rail and fork, and a small piece of keystock for the crawl box, then a top shift shifter base

I forgot to make that clear, I'm not talking about duals. I'm wondering why the two transfer cases couldn't be swapped out as long as you has the correct shifter plate. The reason I'm wondering this is I'm a short guy 5' 5", and I have to have the seat decently close so the top shift sits pretty close to the seat and makes engaging 4wd annoying sometimes.

I found the answer to my question, which is it won't work because the top of the transmissions where the shifter plates bolt are a different size. I somehow had it in my mind that the back two bolts were on the transfer case still. Sorry for the moon post.
