New to the yoda world. 93 turggy build
« on: Jan 04, 2016, 05:20:35 PM »
New to the yoda community

Been wheeling a while with other brands and decided my next build is to be a turggy (btw: still want it to drive on the road) and picked the yoda platform as to me it looked like the best to build off of.

That said as with most people I have yet to find the money tree so doing it in stages and looking for some advice.  My base platform is an extended cab 93 with the v6.  I going a trail gear 4 inch IFS eliminator (https://www.trail-gear.com/TG/IFS_Eliminator_Kit_3_/i_0_0_355/_110001-1-KIT.aspx#.VolE-pMrJE4)  kit and dropping in a 85 straight axel.  Plan to shorten the wheel bast to about 110 and flat bed the.

For that axel on top of what comes in the kit I am sliding in Six Shooter Knuckle, Longfield Gun Drilled 30-Spline axel shafts (along with upgrading all the seals and stuff), 5.29 gears.  Shortening the wheel base to about 110 and doing a tube bed sliders and bumpers are a given at this time.

So the question is:
Is this direction crazy?  :screwy:
What would you change for the first stage?
What would your punch list in order look like for subsequent stuff?

Not a bad direction for a trail rig.

I wouldn't shorten the wheel base unless you only wheel very tight trails and little to no hill climbs or rocky staircase sections.  Most move the front axle forward  2-3" lengthening the wheel base, which also allows to to run a lower ride height since you clear the firewall easier.

If your current rig is still relatively clean, you might consider swapping it with a 2wd, cheaper to turn into a SAS'd rig and it will ride lower due to the design of the front frame rails.

I'd use the RCV axles over the TG Fields.
