engine swap woes
« on: Oct 21, 2015, 03:11:23 PM »
So I just got done putting a 22re block into my 84 Toyota pickup. I had the old 22r block running great with no issues until the engine blew up. Now with the 89 block installed it's having a rough idle and an issue. If I screw the idle screw all the way down it still runs. I’ve checked for air leaks multiple times and can't find any. I've unhooked the cold start, new TPS, check the air tube, new gaskets on everything and I cannot for the life of me fine it. Any help is wanted as I'm sure there's something over looked. And yes my truck is EFI with no emissions stuff left on it.

check for play in the throttle body by opening the throttle and trying to shake it if it moves more then a 1/4 of a inch you need a new throttle body

With the engine running, spray some puffs of starting fluid around different parts of the engine, when it starts to run faster you will be near the vacuum leak.

I've been doing that with brake cleaner and have only found one. And I've gone through one and a half cans so far

I've been using both haha. An that's been something I've been looking (IAC valve) at but my issue is I want to replace the IAC, bt the IAC I have now is from a truck with an autmatic tranmission (my old 89) my 84 has a mnual tranny. Can i just put a manual transmission IAC valve on it and everything work fine?
