Who is they? Stalactites and stalagmites are already known to grow in very short time frames, some well documented examples are growing at 1 inch per year. Scientists would have you believe that they grow less than a centimeter per one thousand years with a maximum growth rate of only a few millimeters per year but we already have stalactites growing from bridges in Philadelphia that are more than a foot long after only half a century. It's interesting that it remains on private property. I've never been up to northern Nevada but that would be really neat to see in person.
