1982 trans swap wiring for W56
« on: Feb 27, 2015, 07:46:23 AM »
Hi folks, my first post here.  I recently got a 1982 4WD that has a newer 1994 22re engine and W56 transmission/transfer case swap in it.  The p.o. did a semi hack job on the wiring, which I am in the process of cleaning up.  I've discovered that the reverse lights and the 4WD gauge light is not working, mainly because the chassis wiring harness and the connectors on the transmission and trans case are not connected.  I think what I need is two connectors, which will mate the old pigtails from the chassis to the new pigtails on the transmission and tcase.  My guess is that somebody on this board has encountered this problem before.  If so, could you advise as to the way to create such connectors?  Thanks!

Polarity doesn't matter for the reverse lights and the t case signal wire is a single wire..

You could go about it a few ways. Really any way that keeps a solid connection is a good way. Standard male and female connectors from radio shack would work fine.
